THE ROLE OF PHYSIOGRAPHY IN THE EVOLUTION OF MEANDERING RIVERS ACROSS THE AMAZON BASIN
Jose Constantine, Cardiff University

17 June
6:30pm (refreshments from 6pm)
Organised by Western Region GS
The Amazon River drains the largest hydraulically connected land surface on the planet, and its various tributaries make up some of the planet’s largest rivers. The evolution of these rivers supports spectacular landscapes and floodplain biodiversity, and we report that the physiographic makeup of the Amazon Basin is determining sediment supplies that influence how the rivers and floodplains of the Amazon are evolving through time.
