How interesting. I'd long thought that seabed sediments would have generally been rather soft and gloopy for walking on, so once the refugees had struggled through, the following armed and armoured infantry and cavalry could have been mired.
We've all seen raised beaches, only in the Gulf of Suez have I seen a recent raised reef. Alas, only through binoculars. That area does bob up and down a bit. The failed arm (now the movement goes through the Dead Sea) lies under the Nile Delta thereabouts, too.
