As one of the crew I quite enjoyed the day. Regular gardening brings one close to a small piece of landscape, it happened here too at a classic location. I joined the team removing elder, ivy and such, and the accumulation of slightly limey leafmould, from the top of the erosion surface. Naturally this Holocene deposit was concentrated in the hollows, where the Jurassic oysters were still in situ. Seeing them revealed was quite a reward.

There will be more clearance later this month.
