History of Geology Group (HOGG) to visit the Forest of Dean

Hogg is organising  a field trip to the beautiful Forest of Dean. Iron has been mined in the Forest since prehistoric times and coal since at least Roman times, but how and when did an understanding of its geology evolve? This two-day field trip will explore the unique history of ‘free’ mining in the Forest of Dean, and how a gradual understanding of its geology facilitated exploration for these resources.

Although the trip is not scheduled until May next year, the historic hotel we plan to stay at is very popular and so we need to reserve our rooms now. The hotel has put together a very attractive package for us, but if you wish to take advantage of this deal you need to pay a small deposit by 15 October 2016.

As we can only accommodate 20 people, places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so don't delay!
Payment of the deposit will secure your place.

The HOGG website where you can pay your deposit and read about what you will see can be found HERE.
